السلام عليكم

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم

Yay meeee! I finally got a second post to post alhamdulilah! loll . Keep bearing with as I get fully into it soon enough in sha Allah.

This post is about PLANNING.

I never had a real plan for my hifz for really long,  I told myself I was disciplined enough to go at my own pace.

In motivated times, I’d go at a fast pace then sometimes stop, and get back again. I did not like routine, because it made me feel restricted and would cause me to stop altogether.
A while ago I came across this saying

Failing to plan, is planning to fail’

It hit me hard and I realized that this was what made my progress so stagnant. Lack of proper planning, which ended up in lack of discipline and undoubtedly procrastination. I came to the conclusion that to really succeed you need a plan; it may be a rough one or full planned but at least a plan.

How to go about planning?
1) Long term reflections.

  • Think about it carefully, why you are doing it, what you want to achieve, do you plan on finishing? Or do you just want to see where the journey takes you?
  • If you do want to finish; is it a high priority for now? How long would you accord to it? 1yr? 2yrs?

2) Let’s do this.

  • Now that you’re done, the next step is the actual plan.
  • Remember to be flexible, plans can be altered. So do not put a strict/tight schedule on yourself. Do not make a plan that you won’t be able to follow.
  • The plan should generally accommodate 3 aspects :

New hifz: Daily amount to be learnt

  • You should plan roughly according to the time you want to complete!
(take remaining portion and divide accordingly )
  • Calculate your daily amount to be learnt and respect your amount
  • Get used to small portion at first and then you can increase with time in shaa Allah

Routine review: Routine Review means the whole complete revision of all your hifz.

  • You should stretch the revision in a way you can complete rounds of complete revision is specific period of time.
  • Like in the beginning; 1 month, then you reduce to 3weeks, and 2weeks and so on.

Revisions of the last five days: This is the review of the 5 previous day’s hifz.

  • You have to keep strengthening your review; new hifz is easy, but without strength it will be easily gone.
  • If 5 days strengthening is not enough, then allow yourself more days.

3) Follow the plan

  • Planning is important, but the most important which I experienced is sticking to the plan.
  • You can make hundreds of plans but if you don’t respect your plans, nothing will come out of it.
  • Go towards your plans’ goals, find motivating factor and other things but don’t divert.

4) Accountability: reward and ‘punishment’

  • You should hold yourself accountable to your achievement or lack of it.
  • Set a weekly time to summarize your progress; to see if you followed the plans.
  • Reward and punish yourself accordingly. A nice chocolate or ice cream treat if you did well.Punishment can be in form of ‘not doing something you like’ (DON’T GO TO EXTREME )

5) HE is The Best of Planners

  • Remember that sometimes you won’t be able to go according to your plans due to circumstances that are not under your control.
  • Plan, but trust that Allah is the best of planners.  His plans are better than everything.
  • Do your best and be satisfied with what you have been blessed to do.
  • You should leave place in your plans for unexpected events; where you won’t be able to stick to your plans. Like maybe holidays, Eid time, Ramadan. Or other times.

HAPPY PLANNING aaaaaaaaaaaaaand STICKING TO IT !!!!!!!

May Allah make it easy upon us all, everything I write is first a reminder to myself.

All thanks to My Rab.. اَلْهَادِي  – The Guide, who guided me to this Alhamdulilah.. I only seek His love and pleasure and to get closer to him with each step. May Allah accept from us our efforts to reach to Him.

All good comes from Him,and I seek His forgiveness for my shortcomings.

With love for the sake of  Allah.. الرَّحْمَنِ –  The Entirely Merciful ,
